about

enrique Jesus Hernandez Los Angeles, California

enrique Jesus Hernandez is a performance rock artist and domestic abuse activist. _HUNGER CITY], his latest EP, and music videos, is him as a child witnessing his mother being physically and emotionally abused. Track Name: theBASE
there's a base in my brain ...
i stand there stunned, my bones remain encased.
and there's a feather in my speech ...
been coughing loud, but the walls keep giving me their backs.

they're the walls on the outside.
they're the walls on the inside.

he put holes in her cheek,
locked her out on the fire escape.
he put holes in her head -
beat her thighs with the metal bar he got from the door.

that's the door that locked her outside,
i called the cops.
that's the door that locked me inside,
i cried for help.
to escape would feel so nice ...
where to go?
to erase him from our lives ...

i call the people of the peace, the police -
to tear him to pieces for what he's done.
i call the people of the peace, the police -
to tear him to pieces for what he's done.
i call the people of the peace, the police -
to tear him to pieces for what he's done.

Signs of domestic violence are:

When You have been slapped, shaken, pushed, bitten, punched, beaten, pinched, kicked, stabbed, have had an object thrown at you, strangled, been hit with a weapon or shot

When you have been threatened, accused unjustly of having affairs, constantly criticized, humiliated in public, called derogatory names &/or had your thoughts and feelings constantly ignore or denied

When your children have been threatened or abused to punish you. When affection has been withheld as punishment and you have been forced to submit to reckless driving.

When you are scared to deny sex to your partner,or you have been forced to perform unwanted sexual acts, raped, forced to have sex with others or to watch others, or have been called demeaning sexual names

When property or pets that you value have been harmed or destroyed, when you have been manipulated with lies, promises and contradictions.

When Your personal freedom has been restrained, such as:
You being isolated from friends and family members,
Having been locked in or out of the house or abandoned in dangerous places

When you have no access to Financial resources or no part in making financial decisions and/or are prevented from seeking employment.

When you have been denied medical care, including reproductive health options or medical care when pregnant.

and so i tried to find a way,
consumed by pride and desperate faith.

the memories formed while seasons changed,
were meant to push you toward erase.

but i could break every pain, when i prayed for bitter days
to soak in flowers toward a savory taste - this flavor devoured was by daily escape

you were the one who made me strong - abused my mind till callus formed.
you hated loud, you hated long - the hours crept through crying storms.

through all the blood and all the brains that stained the carpet and the sheets...

you hurt her soul and so we stayed - in damaged places i remained.

Track Name: theWHERE
i just feel like I've been pushing under ground.
feel like I've been pushing underground.

where do i go?
i'd like to know ...
where do i go ... from here?

i just feel like, theres a world like - i can be like them.
there's a world like - i can be like them.

where do they go?
i'd like to know ...
where did they go from here?

i don't know that i can show that, i can be that way
i don't know that i can show that, i can be that way

where can we go?
i'd like to know ...
where can we go from here?
Track Name: theWAY
i was born from the womb of a wounded child
who was enlisted to be prophet of the harlem mob
but she was hiding low in the wild downtown
making drinks for people in the village crowd … it was so loud

its the way we flex our lungs, she said
its what we do with our tongues -
throwing stones at the sun in hopes it will shatter

i was saved by a man who was watching me cry
across the room in a cabin filled with liars and wives.
he pulled me aside and said to write down; all the fears in my head - the pain poured out. it was so loud.

its the way we flex our lungs, he said
its what we do with our tongues -
throwing stones at the sun in hopes it will shatter

its the way we flex our lungs, he said
its what we do with our tongues -
throwing stones at the sun in hopes it will shatter

if you’re there with the child or you’re there all alone,
and you're scared late at night; with pain in your bones...
being abused and being let down,
trying to be heard in a world so loud …. you don't have to shout

have no fear - there is help on the other side.
you’ll find the way, baby
no more tears.
make your way to the other side; where its safe - go escape.

(if you ever feel alone my love, and you forget why you sing songs … pick up a stone)

his fists and money wont hold us down
